A Potential End to School Shootings It is no surprise that school shootings have grown in number over the years, and it is just now become a main priority of the people to find a solution. School shootings are almost expected by the American people and it should never be that way. In a news article the amount of school shooting was put into perspective through this statistic: “We're only 12 weeks into 2018, and there have already been 17 school shootings where someone was hurt or killed. That averages out to 1.4 shootings a week.” (Ahmed). School should be a safe zone for students, it is a place where they can escape home if their living situation is not idea, it’s a place for them to express themselves however they please and find people who have the same ideals, and it is a place for education. By removing the over usage of violence in the media we eliminate won of the causes proven by studies to increase aggression in people. With media being a huge part in today’s society it is no surprise that people would want to imitate what they see or do in the media. Video games and TV/ movies have become more and more graphic, despite their being rating on movies to keep younger children from watching them once a movie is purchased it is fair game for people of all ages. It was stated by a student involved in the Parkland shooting “Gun violence in America is one of those problems that can feel truly hopeless” (Alter 1). No one should feel as if they have been faced with a problem that cannot be fixed especially if they have lost children to the certain issue. If we remove violence from the media, the television shows and video games children watch most often, we could ultimately remove the source that puts the original idea into the shooters
