Introduction Sex trafficking is split by two spectrums: human trafficking and sexual slavery. The two represent the socioeconomic part of the sex trafficking industry. This profiteering is based on the interactions occurring between the pimp selling a victim to clientele to perform sexual services. The distinctions of sex trafficking are as listed; child sex tourism, domestic minor sex trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation of children, and prostitution. Sex trafficking has become a preponderant epidemic in today’s society.(Robertson, 2012, Pg 1) The element of human sex trafficking has been shown consistently to the nation through the medium of film. Through films such as Eden and Taken, my eyes were open to this crime that not only occurs in other countries, but also in our neighboring borders. Sex trafficking is a crime that breaks my heart to hear about because it abducts our people and dehumanizes them. I’m appalled by the fact that slavery still occurs on some spectrum. Exploiters are often a person that the victim trust or have known for some time. Victims, desperately looking for financial stability for themselves and family are pulled into the industry with promises of a better life. Exploiters bring “opportunities” to work in various occupations that would entice a victim to be at their beck and call. The major characteristic shown in recruiters is a strong mastery of the skill of manipulation. The following quote captures this sentiment: “Manipulation is of key component to the pimps, to what the pimps are doing.
