Athletes might want extra cash for many reasons. But the big idea is that the money they earn from NIL contracts can help them with whatever they need. Despite how little the amount of money athletes earn from their NIL contracts, “they may go a very long way for these student-athletes” and help them with certain payments (Whateley 2). This means that student-athletes have an opportunity to make a bigger name for themselves and have a better chance at competing in professional sports. Players with NIL deals can get even more recognition through social media pages run by their sponsors. This drastically increases the probability of them getting into a higher level of play. The same article says that “Overtime Elite posts recaps and highlights of their games to Instagram, Tiktok, and Youtube” (Huddleston 2). This means that Overtime Elite can help attract NBA scouts and show them their highlights to help the player get to the NBA. In conclusion, If some student-athletes didn’t have this opportunity, then they might not have a chance to make a name for themselves and play professionally, but with this new idea, they could be more successful in trying to play professional
