An old English proverb once declared that “A smooth sea never made a skilled mariner.” This quote emphasizes that if one does not face adversity in life then one will never get anywhere. People need to experience hard times so that they can grow and become a better person. The unexpected teaches us to change and improve on our mistakes.
If someone takes the easy road their entire life, such as taking easy classes in school, then they could get straight “A’s” and not challenge themselves, or they could take hard road and take the hardest classes that their school offers them and actually learning new things instead of things they already know. One must challenge themselves in order to accomplish more in life, and this starts when one is young, such as choosing which school classes to take. If one is going to go into a certain career and they need to take a certain class, but they skip it to take an easier one then they are just hurting themselves even more because if they want to go into that profession then they cannot take the easy road, or they will not be

The people that put it off until the last minute and that are not trying at all are taking the smooth sea while the people that are working every night of the week trying to improve upon it are taking the rough sea. I am taking the rough sea and trying to improve upon my essay so that I can get a good grade and gain experience in writing essays.
