During the years of university, students are overloaded with assignments, projects, presentations, quizzes and exams. These works and exams can create a lot of stress and pressures for university students who are expected to perform excellently in classes. Suicide is the tragic result students choose after facing these incidents. According to Emory Cares 4 U, “Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people aged 25 to 34 and the third-leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 24” (Emory University, 2016). The causes of suicide in university students are academic and social pressure, inadequate coping skills with university works and feeling of failure or decreased performance.

Family is people that are the closest to these students, they should be more understanding, open and patient to listen to their children’s worries and problems about universities’ lives (“Coping with bad grades”, n.d.). Friends are another group of people that these students can talk to. Sometimes these students do not possess any help-seeking behaviors so parents and friends have to be observant and approach them first. They might be reluctant at first but if they feel that they can believe in the people they are talking to, they will express their feelings and worries about universities lives. After the talk, parents should understand the reasons why these students are having hard times at universities and feeling stress. They should not pressure their children anymore and give a lot of love and support in whatever their children decisions are. University students also need to help themselves by open up more to other people and have good time
Physician assisted suicide is when a physician provides the means required to commit suicide, including prescribing lethal amounts of harmful drugs to a patient. In the United States alone, there is great controversy about physician assisted suicide. The issue is whether physician assisted suicide is murder or an act of sympathy for the patient. The main point is that terminally ill patients should have a right to physician assisted suicide if it meets their needs and is done properly. Physician assisted suicide is an appropriate action for the terminally ill that want to end their life in peace before it ends at the hands of the terminal disease.

Sloane’s brother and best friend killing themselves, her brother and other best friend getting admitted to The Program has Sloane’s parents thinking that these events will lead her into thoughts of suicide. That made Sloane’s mom decided to put her into The Program. In The Program there are pills that take the “bad” memories away. While Sloane is in The Program she meets a guy named Realm who is secretly working for The Program, but has Sloanes best interest at heart.
Many students feel as if there is no one to turn to because their parents and other adults did not undergo this excessive amount of stress when they were young. The anxiety is so crippling some think there is no hope that things will get better, or they are worried they will let their parents down that the easiest solution is dying. One in five people in America suffer from a form of a mental health disorder (Mental health). Many people, especially children, develop severe mental illnesses which are usually left untreated for a very long time. Mental illness is becoming more and more common in today’s society. With more younger kids becoming vulnerable to possible mental health disorders, schools should be taking note. Schools in the United States should require mental health screenings; mental health problems can start very early on in life, school violence could be prevented, and suicide rates could go down.
In “College Pressures” by William Zinsser, leader of one of the residential colleges at Yale University, the author describes the different amount of pressures that students struggle with in college. Because of his position at the university, he constantly noticed the students around him and the anxiety that was radiating off them. He believes that economic pressures cause students to feel anxious about paying back student loans after college. However, parental pressure leads students to make decisions that their parents would be happy with because of the feeling of guilt and wanting to please them.

However, the same seven deadly sins of lust, gluttony, envy, greed, anger, sloth, and pride that keep one unhappy and unmotivated in everyday life, even if one does not realize these are the source of their unhappiness, can also be applied even more specifically to students. Most will struggle with at least one of these areas, if not all of them, in their academic journey. Being aware of the common potential downfalls, though, can better set up a student opportunities to overcome them.
