Target therapy is one of the modality which used to treatment cancer by attack cancer cell rather than normal through inhibit or block some of protein and enzyme produced by cancer cell, but safety of using it for the management of cancer during pregnancy is still causing debate, therefore the purpose of this position statement is to demonstrate the complication may face the mother and infant as a result of using target therapy during pregnancy. Management plan for patient with cancer during pregnancy period need to participate of all medical team members and in addition to involve patient and family in decision making process. 3. Demonstrate all side effects and complication may face the mother and infant.
4. Clarify religious opinion regarding preserve pregnancy or abort it (In the Islamic religion permissible to abort the fetus if treatment leads to abnormalities of the fetus to those who less than four months old but, if the age of the fetus more than four months may not be abort unless there was a risk the life of mother).
5. Clarify the legal opinion regarding preserve pregnancy or abort it (Jordanian law permissible to abort the fetus unless there was a risk the life of mother).
6. Encourage the organization to make more research regarding safety of using target therapy during pregnancy.
7. Follow the International guide line and policy regarding safety of using target therapy during pregnancy.
8. Try to put a clarify policy in the organization which concern in management of cancer.
9. Try to find alternatives management plan contain another drug if the patient choose to preserve pregnancy.
10. Informed the government and the decision-makers on the results of using target therapy during pregnancy, and try to change the Laws and rules if that need.
