Is This the Best We Can Do, America?
Most people in the US are all about being number 1 in, sports, power, influence, food consumption, but aren’t we lacking at that one thing that should truly be number 1? According to USNews.com in 2016 the U.S. came in 7th in education, a new study projects the US to fall to the 20th place, is this the best we can do America? Just like in The Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman I am an avid believer in stopping the unnecessary testing and increase the funding for our public schools to restore our education system and get back into the top 10 countries for education.
Having come from a family where no one graduated college and seeing the result of it, persuaded me to find out where we are possibly going wrong in our education system. I want to prevent my children from falling into the same stereotypical pattern of not only being a person attending public school, but also being Hispanic. I want to highlight where the US is failing our children today along with what measures can be taken to reach that top ten

Research by Kirabo Jackson and Claudia Persico found that the benefits of schools receiving more funding were “more obvious for students from poor families.” They found that if you increase the funds available for every low-income student it results in more money they earn as adults. It goes back to what I have been saying, if the government provides more funds for education our children’s learning experience can be far better than it is today. By increasing funding on education, students earn more money as adults that means less poverty. It’s a ripple effect, if these lower income families earn more money that means they no longer need government assistance, that extra money from the lack of people requesting assistance can go to other programs or even in the education
