The plague left a long lasting effect on the world. It will always be remembered as a tragic fatal disease. Even a children’s song, “Ring around the Rosie” was made about this infection that killed millions. There are estimates that state about 100-200 million people around the world died from this sickness. What started as fleeing a country because of a small disease ended up killing millions of citizens across Europe. There are many different religious theories, scientific beliefs, and myths that explain how the plague spread throughout Europe. It created a cause and effect ripple around the world. Yersinia is found from rodents. The plague was discovered in Europe when Genoese ships were traveling to Venice. As soon as the ship arrived, it was discovered that all of the members are dead from the spread of the plague. In result of that, the plague caused many innocent people to die quickly and causing it to spread to even more people. According to a BBC article, it is recorded that around 30%-60% of Europeans were affected by the plague which reduced the population from 450 million to 350 million of today’s population. Italy alone had lost about half of their population. Many merchants, farmers, sailors, and others were dead which limited the survive rate because the plague was spreading and those people were needed to harvest crops and food to survive. Not only that but merchants feared for their life and family’s life so must fled Europe to avoid the risk of being infected. Produced goods and products were in such high demand that the prices skyrocketed since there wasn’t enough it. Most people did not have a religion because they believed that God was descending on men which made them pray but realized that praying wasn’t stopping them from dying. The effect of the plague has a long lasting effect even to modern day.
