The Civil Rights Movement is a movement that lasted from (1954-1968). Its goals were to end racial discrimination against African Americans and to secure legal recognition and federal protection of the citizenship rights enumerated in the Constitution and federal law. Its location of the movement was mostly in the southern region of the U.S. During the 1920s post reconstruction period blacks were being racially discriminated against legally. So during that time a group of black people created the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). They fought to end race discrimination through litigation, education, and lobbying efforts. This was the start of the movement. In 1954 the movement became more legit because of an event called Brown v. Board of education. This case was taken all the way to supreme court were it was named that it is unconstitutional to segregate schools by race. This shows that they were serious enough to go to the supreme court state their case and win. In 1959 the movements became less on the now and more on the future with events like Sit-ins, Selma, Freedom Rides, March on Washington, etc. They also ranked people in the movement from protesters to the activist or leaders who would speak to an Government official. This evidence shows he is trying to improve the U.S society by getting racial justice for blacks.
