The Cuban Missile Crisis takes place in 1962. The title of the movie refers to the length of the Cuban Missile Crisis. There is not really 1 set location that this took place. In the US the Kennedy Administration was trying to figure out a solution to the USSR sending missiles to Cuba. The US also had pilots in Cuba to keep track of what was happening with the missiles.
The Kennedy Administration knew the Soviet Union was putting ballistic missiles into Cuba because they had pilots flying over Cuba. They spied on them by taking aerial photographs. This was important because of how close, 90 miles, they were to the US. US cities would only have 5 minutes of warning from the range of the MRBMs. The references to Munch are about the Munich Agreement and how President Kennedy needed not to make the same or a similar mistake in deciding how to deal with the crises at hand. …show more content…

When discussing plans they used the word “quarantine” instead of “blockade” because using “blockade” would mean declaring war, which is not what anyone wanted.
