Darfur is where this genocide occurred and Darfur is located in Sudan. The time period when this started was in 2002 but officially started in 2003. In 2003, Africans in Darfur started a revolt against the government of Sudan. This eventually lead to the event known as The Darfur genocide. The Darfur Genocide was a horrific event that involved mass death, dieses, and was one the biggest civil wars in Africa. The government of Sudan retaliated back by hiring Arab Militia to raid Non Arabic villages. Their purpose was to eliminate all non-Arabic’s from their community. They were hired because the citizens of Darfur started a revolt. That lead to the Sudan government hiring the Janjaweed’s. Which were what the proper name for the group is called. In the future don’t revolt to your government especially the Sudan Government or bad stuff will happen. A lot of bystanders and enemies died from this battle but a lot of people also died from disease or starvation. Around 300,000 people were killed in the Genocide and the war. This war has been going on for four decades and Sudan is being torn apart and almost split into two. The Outcome was horrible and could have been prevented. This genocide that started in 2003 is still going on to this day. The similarities that I have seen that relate this to Night is when they were sent to camps and how they were watched over by Janjaweed militia. Like how in the book night how a certain type of people was being sent to camps and being watched by an armed force. They were made to work in the labor camps and lived in hard conditions. They whipped them and beat them in the camps. These living conditions are unreal and horrible and should be
