The Great Gatsby was a book written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920’s. In the beginning you have three different owners, Nick Carraway, Tom and Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby. They all live in New York, a place full of adventure and romance, on an small rioutus island, on either the West Egg or the Est Egg. These characters are all in their early 30s and all have relation to one another. Nick is second cousins with Daisy, was in the same class as Tom in University and is neighbors with Gatsby. These are very different characters, but all the details about them are important for full understanding of the Novel. The first character is Nick Carraway. He is a wealthy man, who comes from old money, he moved to New York and got into the bond buisness. He graduated from New Haven, is literary and was raised in a family where you must reserve judgement. He was of the Third division during the war. He describes his house as a weather beaten cardboard bungalow that he rents at eighty dollars a month. He had a maid who cooks breakfast and makes the bed. He is a wealthy man that comes from new money. He has a gorgeous personality and is admired for his heightend sensitivity to lifes promises. He had a rare smile, it had a quality of reassurance and gave the sense of understanding. He is a modest man, when Nick had received the invitation to his party Gatsby had wrote that is was little party, really showing he is humble. However, before meeting him he come across as a mysterious man. There are a lot of rumors that go around from people that wonder how he got all his money, because no one really knows for sure. Gatsby hosts many parties and people will always point out the fact that he is never seen at his own parties. He owns a huge mansion on the West egg, it has a tower on one side and a marble swimming pool. He also owns more than forty acres of lawn and
