2.0 The issue and background to the debate

Performance-Enhancing Drugs can be defines as numerous substance, chemical agents, or steps designed to increase in athletic performance. Enlargement of muscles, the increase of the blood oxygen-carrying capacity are the ways that the performance enhancing drugs affect our body. Even though it provides benefits to the human body but these drugs can be classified as both competitively unethical and unhealthy. Mostly, such drugs are banned by organisations that control major amateur and professional sports (MSN Encarta Encyclopedia 2008).

“The use of performance-enhancing drugs by professional athletes, or "doping," has been acknowledged as a problem since at least the 1960s.
