Why do you think the makers of the movie (Steve McQueen, director ++) made these changes? Like I said before in the first response to the first set of questions from the first half of the film, they make these changes to enhance the plot line and make it more Hollywood style rather than just sticking to all the original events. They might also make these changes, because they want to keep the audience interested throughout the film. There has to be either big changes to the characters or settle changes to events in order for people to see the movie after reading the book. Another reason why I think that they made those certain changes were so that the filmmakers could speed up the storyline, so that they can include as much details from the book to represent the true story of Northup. Over all, I would say that I like the different changes the filmmakers made even …show more content…
At first, I did not think much of their relationship, because it seemed irrelevant to the story. However, in the film it added more depth to the plot. Their relationship was not good or bad. There were times where Mrs. Epps treated Northup better than other times. I do not remember exactly the specific examples from the film there were when Mrs. Epps was civil toward Northup and treated him normally for a minute. This would have to be the second best relationship between all the characters that I saw in the film.
Mrs. Epps and Patsey:
They did not get along in the film, because Patsey was the mistress to Edwin Epps. Mrs. Epps was not her biggest fan. In one scene we see her go off and make a speech about how Edwin Epps can not see what she sees in Patsey. Mrs. Epps then goes and hurts Patsey right before all the slaves are told to eat and dance by Mrs. Epps. Multiple other scenes we see that Patsey gets treated the worst out of everyone due to Mrs. Epps jealousy towards Patsey.
