In general, people would not believe the reality or the truth of the supernatural. People would think it is something that is only make believe because there is no proof. But according to the narrator in "The Yellow Wallpaper" she is suspected to be haunted. There are many reasons in the story that give proof that the narrator is indeed possessed. One of the reasons is that the house, with the peculiarly odd furniture, has not had a single owner in a long while. Another reason is that the narrator starts to see unnatural things that other people don’t see. And the last reason is that her behavior starts to change for the worse. “I always fancy I see people walking in these numerous paths and arbors, but John has cautioned me not to give way to fancy in the least” (Gilman 3). For John to tell her not to let her imagination to loose means is that it is not imagination or real people she sees but in reality spirits. This is a sign foretelling that there are spirits and that she will become more in contact with them. She begins to be attentive of the wallpaper and believes that there is something there, “Behind that outside pattern the dim shapes get clearer every day. It is always the same shape, only numerous… And it is like a woman” (Gilman 6). She sees the woman moving around constantly. As the narrator keeps seeing the woman in the wall, she sees the woman struggle trying to get out of the wall and also sees in her moving around besides the wall in the daylight. In normal circumstances that is not something you usually see. For that to happen she must be colliding into the supernatural world in order to see moving shapes on the wall and see spirits that nobody else can
