In this essay the writer will share with the reader something so common with the following authors: Henry David Thoreau, Michael Donovan, Jon Krakauer,and Ralph Waldo Emerson. They all believe in Transcendentalism. All of the above author's have shared themes on the transcendentalism beliefs as seen in many works of literature. The poems and snippets from the author's writings have hinted transcendental ideologies. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau share the Transcendental ideologie as well. Emersons,“Nature”, brought the idea that the human mind is really powerful and it can unfold the works of nature and in God. He further went on to say that “Every soul and all of nature was a part of an “Over-soul.” Emerson inspired Henry David Thoreau to become a transcendentalist and join his people in the belife that the government was over-rated. Thoreau lived by Emersons words and became one with nature, dropping anything to do with any power higher then himself. He was also a fierce abolitionist. Donovan put in his own words how he wants people to stand up against the misleading statements that the government has put in our minds. He says in his poem “So it must be in-the end”,”Looks like it's time to up and start mounting.” By telling us to start mounting he is trying to say that we need to rebel and stand up for what we believe in. Donovan is expressing his freedom of speech in his poem and he has all the right to exclaim whatever he wants. He and Chris McCandless both have a sneaking idea against the government doing them wrong. Chris McCandless on the other hand went out and dropped of the face of the earth when he rebelled against the government.
