During our Stratified Monopoly game in class on Wednesday, I was put into the upper class since I rolled a 9. Being in the upper class helped a lot during the game. It was hard for my group since either we’ve never played or hadn’t played since we were kids, but we caught on quickly once things were explained. The upper class controlled the bank, which was very helpful for us since every deal made with the bank was a deal made with us. As the upper class, we also started out with the most money and we could buy any property we wanted, instead of being restricted like the other 3 classes. The working class bought property, but they couldn’t buy houses or hotels for their property. They also were about to lose all their property to us until the class and game ended. The upper class has no problem achieving the “American Dream” since they have lots of control and can do anything they like. They aren’t afraid to play dirty to get what they want either. The other classes however can really struggle when it comes to achieving the American Dream. They must work for more things than the upper class. It’s hard for the lower and working class to pay for things that might come easy to the upper class and even sometimes the middle class. Entertainment, for example, can be easier for upper class and middle class. They can afford to go to amusement parks during the summer, pay for movies and movie snacks for a whole family. Same with birthday parties. Vacations also. Working class can afford vacations sometimes and they don’t stay in the most beautiful, expensive looking hotels and resorts. The middle class can afford 1-2 vacations a year, depending on where you fall among the middle
