Do you know how the colonists, or the Patriots won the war? Well, there are a few reasons as to why they, or we won. A few reasons is that the colonists won the war because of the sharp shooters, the training at Valley Forge, and the French allies, or the people in the colonies that helped out the army during the war. George Washington was the leader of the Continental Army. Washington’s army had a big advantage, especially since the war was happening on their home land, in the colonies. It was a big advantage because they knew the parts of their homeland already. The sharpshooters were led by a man, named Daniel Morgan. Sharpshooters are one of the reasons because they were so-called “spies,” and knew the whole area of where they were going to shoot. The sharpshooters had discipline, unknown skills, and always had new weapons to use against the British. These sharpshooters had a gun that was able to shoot three times the distance of a normal gun. Sharpshooters used tactics called “Guerrilla tactics.” They used these tactics to make the British vulnerable in an open battle. Using guerilla tactics was different for the sharpshooters, because they were using hit-and-run tactics that were able to bring down the stronger British forces, and also being able to destroy the British’s supply lines.
