One of todays raging, but also controversial topics is that of whether or not the legal drinking age of 21 should be lowered to 18. The lowering of the age is not only thought to help lower the alcohol related problems, such as drunk driving and overly intoxicated teens and adults, but also help diminish the thrill of breaking the law in young adults. The legal drinking age should be lowered to 18 because it is a proven fact, not only in one country but many world wide that by lowering the drinking age, it reduced alcohol related problems in the country; the reduction of age would also cut back on the curiosity of young adults, especially in their early college years, toward alcohol; lastly, since at the age of 18 teens are considered adults and can vote, serve in the military, an legally smoke, they should be also be able to drink legally too. Around the world other countries are starting to lower their drinking ages; such as Greece, Italy, and China. All of the countries that have just lowered the age or have had it lowered for a while all have one thing in common, they all have fewer alcohol related problems like drunk driving and over intoxication.
