Willy Loman is a salesman having two sons and a wife, He had to earn money from his house and his wife for groceries. Willy is a man who desire to attain the unattainable American Dream. Willy also had many reality and illusion moment in this play. He some time dream of success that is not possible for him to achieve, and he turn it into an illusion for people around him that he is a successful man. The truth is if Willy has been true to himself and not desire attention from others, he would not become a salesman and live in the city. The truth is that to be able to succeed in life is you have to have a good personality, skill, and knowledge. Loman also need to be like others and follow their lead, keep up with their pace and not be left behind. “If a man does not keep pace with others, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. (Shoya Zichy)” All he wants is his sons Biff and Happy being popular and well liked in the society. he is a person who only do the same thing over and over again, someone who doesn’t changed things but keep things the same. Always keep it the same, even when it comes to cheese. Linda his wife offered him a new kind of American-type cheese. “Why do you get American when I like Swiss?” is what Willy said to his wife when she offered him something new. Linda want Willy to try something new and not keep everything the same. Like the time when he told Linda about their old home “the street lined with cars. There’s not a breath of fresh air in the neighborhood. The grass don’t grow any more, you can’t raise a carrot in the back yard. They should’ve had a law against apartment houses. Remember those two beautiful elm trees out there? When I and Biff hung the swing between them?”
