The article states that you are what you wear. Do I agree with this? Yes, I do. I believe that what you wear affects your performance and affects the way that people will view you. For example, say you are in the workplace looking casual. The customers that interact with you might not think of you as credible. Also if your wearing casual your work ethic may be casual. I agree that there should be uniforms in the workplace. It will reduce distractions and most likely bring up production in the workplace. Production is key to making any business functional. If the company doesn't have any production, than we don't have a company at all. Every little advantage counts. Of course i'm not saying that you can't have fun at work. However a little professionalism has never hurt anybody. Science doesn't lie, even in studies it has shown that dressing professionally has increased production and produced professional work. I observe all the small details to the obvious ones. The flooring, the lighting, the wallpaper, where the products are displayed, the prices, and the employees. The most obvious observation to me is the employees. The employees out on the sales floor represent the entire company. The opinion of the whole company could rest on the employees shoulders. If a customer has a bad experience with a employee, they could have a bad opinion about the business. That bad opinion will be shared to others. The employees attire has something to do with it. When was the last time you found it enjoyable to talk to a stinky, bad dressed employee with terrible breath? I sure don't remember finding it enjoyable. Getting customer service from a person who is well dressed and practices good hygiene is a night and day difference from someone who doesn't care what they look like.
