Benjamin Franklin once said, “Life’s tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.” In Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, this quote holds a significant meaning, the two lovers simply cannot be together due to their feuding families, yet they still value and love each other. Despite their family's hatred for one another, Friar Laurence continues to support their love behind their family's back. Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet through the way he allowed Romeo and Juliet to act impulsively, faking Juliet's death, and lack of communication. Friar Laurence should have acted more maturely and considered the consequences of marrying them. The two married lovers came to an end when Friar Laurence made a plan to fake Juliet’s death. "Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilling liquor drink thou off." 4.1.3.93-94 -. This is when Friar Launcerene came up with the dangerous plan. Juliet came to him when she did not want to marry Paris, he gave her a sleeping potion that would make her skip the wedding day. This plan leads to miscommunications that cause a horrible ending. Lack of communication at the end of the play made for a tragic ending. “I could not send it — here it is again — Nor get a messenger to bring it thee, So fearful were they of infection.” (5.3.14-16), Friar Laurence fails to give the letter about Juilet’s fake death to Romeo due to the quarantine Friar John had. This horrible communication between them leads to Romeo hearing about her death from Balthasar, Romeo’s servant. As usual, he panics and decides to search for poison. Due to the miscommunication, Friar Laurence sees both Romeo and Juliet’s bodies
