Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story of two teenagers from feuding families who fall in love with each other but can’t publicly be together. At the end of the story, both of them end up deceased. There were many characters to blame for the outcome of the story, but the well-intentioned actions of Friar Lawrence really helped this story to take a turn for the worse. However, the decision and parenting of Lord Capulet allowed for Juliet to feel the need to escape their household with Romeo. Lord Capulet, the father of Juliet, has a significant share of the blame for how the story played out. Although Lord Capulet had a controlling nature when it came to Juliet, he was also trying to protect his daughter and do what he felt was best for her happiness as all fathers should. On the other hand, Friar Laurence, although he had good intentions, his impulsive and ill-thought-out decisions played a significant role in leading the story to its tragic end. For instance, in Act 4, Scene 1, Friar Laurence gives Juliet a potion that makes her appear as dead in hope for her to avoid marrying Paris but this is miscommunicated to Romeo which later leads to the death of both lovers. Despite Friar Laurence being deeply trusted by Romeo and Juliet, ultimately his plan and not thinking about the consequences it could have is what led to the ending of the lives of the two. Although the plan of Friar Laurence is what helped for the story to take a turn for the worse, on the flip side, he was coming from a good place in trying to end the family feud and create peace. He was also bearing the pressure for Romeo and Juliet to always be their problem solver and advice provider, that pressure could have got to him, causing him to make rash
