Part A In this Report, I will briefly outline the key facts that make up the EU. I will also address the current issue regarding the UK and their position in the EU. I will do this by highlighting the key strengths that could sway the UK to reside in the EU as well as address some of the downfalls. This report will mention key supporters and leaders such as Prime Minister David Cameron and UKIP Leader Nigel Farrage. I will also provide statistics where applicable to support both views. By the end of this report there will be a conclusive view of whether or not the UK will stay in the EU. There are many possibilities that may influence the UK to leave the EU, especially with recent news events that have highlighted UK’s downfall in the EU. • Too much financial input: The chart found on the EU Document (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/388882/EU_finances_2014_final.pdf) shows UK is the second biggest contributor towards the EU. This statistic can sway UK to leave the EU as some would say that money is better spent in the UK. Mark Reckless, Ukip MP told the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29751124) that ‘We should be an independent country’ and ‘should not be dominated by Europe’ In relation to this, The UK were told to pay an extra £1.7bn towards the European Union's budget because their economy performed better. This acts as another disadvantage as the UK must spend more money in the EU. In the finance report highlighted that the UK were allowed to ‘phase payments’ and only pay half the bill. Although, the payment was halved it still did not resolve the issue. UK still had to pay more just because there economy was doing
