On 7/13/15 worker made an unannounced visit to the residence of Mr. Lawson Lovett, for the purpose of monitoring the situation and gathering information. During today 's home visit, Mr. Bobby Lovett informed worker he did not want to fill out VA NH application because he had done that before and Mr. Lawson Lovett was denied due to him registered as a sex offender. Mr. Bobby Lovett provided worker with documentation. The documentation stated the crime happened in Biloxi Mississippi 4/28/1993. According to Mr. Bobby Lovett, Mr. Lawson Lovett returned to Alabama in 1998 or 1999.
Vidal is a 13 year old, Hispanic male, from Guatemala. Vidal arrived at Leake and Watts on 08/11/2017 after being detained by Immigration Costume Enforcement (ICE) in Texas together with his alleged father Cristian Alvarado Alvarado. Both were separated during the time of apprehension. Vidal traveled from Guatemala to the United States illegally with his alleged father and a different identification due to extreme poverty and the lack of educational opportunities in Guatemala. Due to continuous assessment with Vidal, he disclosed the idea of journeying to the USA come from Cristian Alvarado Alvarado and Berta Maribel Funes both related to the family.
Anthony Zurcher, an editor for “Echo Chamber” published in BBCNews, wrote the article “Affluenza Defense: Rich Privileged, and Unaccountable” in response to a Texas judge’s ruling on a controversial case. This case was about a 16-year-old boy, Ethan Couch, who drove with a “blood-alcohol level three times above the legal limit” (283), lost control of his pick-up truck and killed four pedestrians. Couch’s lawyers argued that he lacked a sense of responsibility because of his absent, wealthy parents and the lavish lifestyle he lived. This argument led the judge to sentence Couch to a drug rehabilitation center, paid for by his parents, and 10 years probation. A long time resident of Starkfield, the protagonist Ethan Frome shows he is considerate by caring for and helping others. He first shows this trait when he gives up his desire to live in a city to support his ill mother. Though he has a strong wish to leave Starkfield, he respects his duty and cares for his mother. Ethan also shows this attribute to Zeena, by looking after her and contributing to her medicine while she also falls ill. Zeena is again thought of by Ethan when the pickle dish breaks.
Leon, Leila’s stepfather in Bone, by Fae md ng, is an inventor and a collector. He entered America through Angel Island in San Francisco and assumed the identity of Grandpa Leong’s son in order to enter the country. He had to assume another identity, and keeps heaps of paper records to keep track of his names. Paper sons illegally entered the country by claiming relation to a current American citizen.
Throughout the whole investigation of the Gail Miller rape and murder case there were many wrongs committed leading up to the false conviction of David Milgaard. The authorities were pressured by the public and other groups to convict someone of this heinous crime and in doing so this action of theirs put an innocent man behind bars for twenty-three years. Right from the start of the investigation there were faults and incorrect procedures perpetrated by the police. The events that took place leading up to the conviction of Mr. Milgaard demonstrate just how sloppy the investigation took a turn when the police became lax in their investigational procedures.
-Why did JamesTown come so close to failing in its early years? Jamestown, located on the James River in Virginia, was a swampy, marshy place to live. It was hot during the summer and cold in the winter, making it an unfavorable place to dwell, especially if you were an uppercut aristocrat from England. Before Jamestown existed though, a group of investors asked King James the First to allow them a royal charter, to set up a colony in the New World, who’s sole purpose was to export goods from the New World and send them back to the English Empire.
The US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma upheld that the policy was in fact constitutional based on the existence of a “special need, indicated by accounts of drug abuse since 1970.” The verdict would be reversed in the appellate court. However, the Supreme Court reversed the decision of the Court of Appeals reaffirming that like in the district court, the policy was in fact, constitutional.
Ethan Couch killed four people and injured nine while driving under the influence. However, the judge ruled he would receive ten years of probation, which he later violated, and an unspecified amount of time at the North Texas State Hospital. His defense argued he suffered from “affluenza,” an unrecognized mental illness characterized by wealthy young people who, because of their privilege and wealth, do not understand the consequence of their actions. Had Ethan Couch not had a privileged upbringing he would have had a more serious charge. Wealthy people get off easier when they break the law.
At the age of 16 years old Alonza Thomas, a typical teenage boy, was given a 13 year sentence for second degree armed robbery. It all started when he ran away from home; his mother was upset with him so he left to avoid dealing with the problem. He met someone while trying to find a place to stay and he offered him a place to sleep and some hot food. When Alonza had finally decided it was time for him to go home and face his mother, they demanded that he repay them somehow. They held him at gun point, making it apparent that they weren’t going to back down if he went against what they wanted.
Sociologists have determined, the predominant cause of a revolution in the world is poor economic conditions, where people are not able to get adequate income to take care of their bare necessities to feed themselves and make the ends meet. Hence, many resort to illegal activities, particularly in highly populated areas, where massive competition for jobs exists. As can be concluded, it is inevitable that eventually many of the people who commit illegal acts get caught by law enforcement authorities, and subsequently end up in jail. Accordingly, due to the instability of the economic and political growth, many people feel obligated to move elsewhere, not only to seek employment to support their families, but to find a better and safer environment to live in. This shows how resilient American people truly were.
In Edith Wharton's famous book Ethan Frome, main character, Ethan Frome’s story is a personal tragedy. His own decisions he makes are his own fault. But what is his tragedy? Well, to a certain understanding, his tragedy is that in the present day, he is always dreary and not as happy as he could have turned out; in other words, one could say that his tragedy is that he is unsuccessful in happiness. Although one may argue that the tragedy wasn’t all Ethans fault, and that the weather of new england caused it, that certainly isn’t true.
Families are migrating together and small children are being held in these detention centers. Federal judge Dolly M. Gee in the Federal District Court for the Central district of California ordered that these detention centers could not hold the migrant children. However, because of the overwhelming number being held they were given twenty days to be released. However, instead of these centers shrinking and being shut down, they are simply growing in numbers, due to the growing number of Central Americans seeking refuge.
