Why The President's Decision to Withdraw From Paris is Ethically Misguided. Climate change is an issue that has been around since the beginning of time. Whether or not it's an issue that some believe a hoax does not determine the consequences of the actions we take, such as doing our part in reversing the effects of climate change. With rising human population, pollution is becoming ever more toxic to the planet, resulting in the detrimental effects of climate change being noticed more frequently. Due to the recent extreme weather events, like those occurring in Puerto Rico, Texas, California, and Florida, more people have been realizing the harm that human actions have on Earth. In fact, majority of the U.S. is against Trump's decision. The actions that are being taken by the state, local and private sectors to fulfill the Paris Agreement speaks for America, not the president. California by itself plays a huge role in the U.S. economy, not only that but it is also the sixth largest economy in the world (Reilly). Governor Jerry Brown has already planned to create California's own standards of green initiatives very similar to the initiatives set in the Paris Climate Accord, leading California to be more independent globally in the efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Already 27 percent of California's energy is renewable and is projected to reach 50 percent by 2030. Governor Brown has met with leaders in China regarding the creation of new climate agreements and is also working with other large states to continue fighting for the betterment of the world. Brown argues that Trump's decision acts only as a catalyst to galvanize the people of california and influence others to do the right thing and reaching the path of sustainability
