Explored within the film Big Mama, Viola Dees goes through many different unfortunate circumstances in which causes her some issues. After her grandson, Walter, was placed in a foster care due to his mother’s drug addiction, Viola attempts to gain custody of him. Although Viola is 89, she fights against age discrimination that is placed against her. After taking in Walter, she suffers a heart attack which then affects her relationship with Walter. Viola’s way of coping with the overall issue was to abide different rules and regulations.
In the movie The Departed starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Billy who plays as an undercover state trooper, Matt Damon playing Colin Sullivan who is a detective in the Special Investigations Unit who is working for Frank Costello played by Jack Nicholson. The movie presents numerous ethical and moral issues such as murdering people and dealing drugs. One of the first issues that presented in the movie is Billy who comes from a background of criminals. However, Billy wants to be a state trooper and disowns his family but he has to prove his moral conviction to the people in the undercover side of the police department.
He grows angry at Victor for creating him, leaving him, and refusing to make him a female companion. Victor’s creation murders his friend Henry Clerval, his brother William, and even his wife Elizabeth. Once Victor’s creation comes to life, his life is ruined. If he would have accepted him from the beginning and taken on the rule of a father, his life may not have been so miserable. Good Will Hunting is a movie released in 1997 directed by Gus Van Sant. The movie progresses around Will Hunting (Matt Damon), M.I.T janitor who has mathematical talent. In the movie Crimson Tide, we look to the question ethical decisions, and what someone would do when thrown into a situation that made them question themselves, and who they serve for. In this example, when serving in the United States Military, once a solider is given orders, that solider must follow the orders out and not to question them. The trust between the solider and the higher command giving orders is almost based on blind faith. The solider relies on the higher commands decision of protecting democracy, even if someone, or a lot of people are killed. Is it an ethical decision to follow a commander’s order even if it means killing mass numbers of innocent civilians?
These actions lead his family to suffering, and Victor loses his dear ones. Walton said to Victor, “feel his own worth, and the greatness of his fall”. His suffering is not without reason. Victor loses not only family, but also those who he cares for, Elizabeth, Justine and William, and best friend Clerval. Each of them are not only dear to him, but also symbolise the good in the world - love, bravery, morality, kindness, and innocence.
