For my research paper, I propose to investigate the novel, Looking for Alaska by John Green. The novel tells the story of teenager Miles Halter as he enrolls into boarding school to seek more in life than what he has now. In Miles’s words, he seeks “a great perhaps” (Green). Continuing, this novel deserves investigation to be viewed as powerful despite its controversial content. To begin, the first and clearest argument that can be made is that the novel deserves more appreciation than it is known for. In many schools Looking for Alaska has been challenged due to its content involving teens drinking, smoking, swearing, participating in rebellious acts, and one sexual scene. Due to the content, it has a place on the frequented Banned/Challenged
