Social media bullying is an ethical issue and moral evil that has taken over the lives of young people. It is also known as cyberbullying and is the use of technology to bully a person or group with the intent to hurt them socially, psychologically or even physically (eSafety, 2018). This essay will explore this issue in more depth while touching on how sin, determinism and informed conscience influences people involved with cyberbullying. This will be explained by using the Bible, Catholic Social teachings and will then draw conclusions about the significance of Catholic Teachings on social media bullying.

Social media bullying is an ethical issue, causing many young children to endure emotional harm that can eventually lead to suicide. Moreover, statistics show that secondary students are more likely to engage in bullying online and that 1 in 5 young people under 18 (20%) had reported experiencing online bullying (bullying No way, 2018). This corroborates with No Bullying, which also statistically says that 463,000 children were victims of online bullying in 2013. Hence, social media is a way for moral evil to become a part of many young children’s lives.

Nevertheless, social media has become a way to raise money for charities and make positive changes to the world. However, it enables people to be morally evil and cause suffering.
