Till the time human has life, he is respected but the same ends as soon as the person is dead. There are no rights and no duties regarding the dead. Deceased are considered to be wasteful mass of cells. At earlier times, a lot of importance was connected with them. Some considered them to be next to god or their messenger to almighty. But, today’s money-minded society tries to exploit the dead body to their best so as to commerce on it. Organ theft, plastination of human bodies, use of bodies for medical purposes, etc. are some examples of this. The religious, moral and ethical values have lost significance and stand out-of-date.

There is controversy in connection to, whether they can be considered to be a person or not. Though, Judiciary is making efforts to make best possible use of its discretionary and law making powers to safeguard the rights of the dead and to extend the meaning of fundamental rights to incorporate them within, the condition of dead has changed a little.
There is often controversy on scientific, legal and moral grounds on this point. Zoroastrians believed that after death, the body was contaminated by demon that rushed in and hence do not believe in significance of the left over physical mass of tissues. Moreover, they believe that the dead body pollutes the surrounding and hence must be gotten rid of. But this in no way means that the dead bodies are to be treated in undignified or disrespectful manner.
Hindus believe both in ‘life after death’ and in ‘reincarnation’. “It is well-known that through the Samskaras after the birth one conquers this earth; through the Samskaras after the death the heaven". Therefore, a lot of importance is attached to these rituals. Also, Hindus, out of respect, did not want to leave the dead bodies around to be consumed by vultures and other
