In 2009, The Blind Side took hold of both the big screen and the hearts of American families. Since its debut, the movie has won 7 awards, as well as an Oscar. This inspirational movie fits into multiple categories: drama, comedy, sports, but most importantly biography. Since the movie fits into a variety of categories, it is truly a movie for everyone to enjoy. Throughout the movie there are powerful life lessons, but director John Lee Hancock did not need much help creating a plot since the movie is based off of a true story. The movie tells the story of Michael Oher, an African American male, who was an uneducated young adult living on the streets. His life took a complete turn when the Touhy family took him under their wing and into their home. The Touhy’s helped Michael get an education, and also uncover the fact he is an amazing football player. In today’s time not many families would be willing to let a stranger into their home. Another situation that is illogical is the fact that Mrs. Touhy was able to access Michael’s records without him being present. This is also before the Touhy family adopted him, which makes it even more far fetched. While accurately using at least pathos and ethos, The Blind Side accomplishes its main goal of entertaining an audience. Years after its release date, it remains a common-household movie. Even though it lacked in the sense of logos, it is just a movie for entertainment purposes. In today’s world not all movies need to have logic to keep audiences amused. Any motion picture has its illogical aspects, otherwise they would be dull. This movie proves that with right amount of pathos and ethos, you can lure in a tremendous audience for years to
