Have you ever been discriminated against? In the story “Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, a young boy named Ponyboy plays as a victim of prejudice. Ponyboy is in middle school, and has an older brother named Dally, who robs gas stations and has been in jail. The area that Ponyboy lives in has two different gangs, The Greasers, and the Socs. Both gangs are different in many ways, which results in conflict.
Like when Mark talks about not even providing the book to children if the schools are going to censor it. In addition, he uses ethos by building a trust with the audience, giving examples and his own point of view of why the
The author used different elements of ethos, logos, pathos, and kairos to effectively communicate with the reader. Eve Tushnet the author of this essay does not have a whole lot of ethos. Eve is lacking credibility and character because she is not an established author. Eve is not a credible author because she is a freelance writer. Eve does not have good credibility because she blogs and contributes to an opinion magazine and website.
Something that's interesting about this section in particular is that it is one of the very few times Anderson uses ethos throughout the whole essay. He describes a personal account of a beautiful day when he was jogging through a majorly white town while on vacation. In the middle of his jog a red pickup truck stops on the road ahead of him and the white driver starts yelling “Go home! Go home!” at him.
Ethos is the accountability and the personal experience author has obtained, this is an important part of the article because it helps bring it credibility. The audience can tell that ethos is one of the main strategies Heath uses because she brings in the opinions of other people and states their entire background. For example, the text, states “Sonja Lyubomirsky, vice chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of California at Riverside” (Heath, 589). From this, the reader can infer that having a credible and reliable background is important to help inform the readers about the benefits of funny videos. In addition, while researching the author, Elizabeth Heath, many sources presented that she has written countless articles including family travel, wellness, soft adventure, and culture.
In this book report I will talk about the book “The outsiders” written by S.E. Hinton, I will do a review of the story, the point of view, theme, symbols and my opinion about this book I really liked to read for the English class. The story is about a boy named Ponyboy who lived in a small town in Texas with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop were a gang war was taking place between two different social class people: The Socs and the Greasers. Ponyboy will learn the consequences bad acts can bring to your life in the middle of a gang war. The greasers were a middle class and not so social kind of people who liked to get in trouble and The other gang The Socs were a most of them a high class or middle-high class group of people who where they went they will always go in groups of like three or four people.
Iconic figures will always have their ups and downs, but their downs are something to remember because of the journey he or she may take to bring his or herself back up. Robin Williams was an actor and also a comedian. He was well known for his roles as the funny characters, that you’d see on Disney.
Criminals are what they are because of their actions, but could there be honor and good intentions among the lawless? In the book The Outsiders,, by S.E. Hinton, the Greasers are considered by the society as a reckless gang of hoodlums, but they treat each other like family, which separates them from other gangs in the city. The Greasers’ most common problem is their rivalry with the rich kids on the other side of town, called the Socs. Although they commit crimes and make bad choices at times, events in the book showed that they have love and compassion in their hearts. Therefore, there is honor among the lawless because the Greasers love each other like family, stick up for each other, and sacrifice themselves to protect each other when in
“The Outsiders” is a novel written by S.E. Hinton. Originally Published in 1967, Hinton was only 18 when her novel hit the shelves. Instead of using her real name Susan Eloise Hinton, she used her initial’s so people wouldn’t know she was a girl making the book less desirable. The Outsiders is considered a cult classic and is typically assigned reading across the U.S. She always loved reading but did not like the books they had for young adults
Thematic Essay- Society and Class Society and class is an important theme in “The Outsiders”, a novel written by S.E Hinton. “The Outsider”, is a book about two gangs, the Greasers and the socs who are rivals because of their economic and social differences. Throughout the book, S.E Hinton outlines that Socs, who have a better economic status are unaware of all of the other aspects in life and feel superior over the Greasers. In book, The Outsiders, it 's shown that a human society can be separated a society because of society and wealth.
Just like how the idiomatic expression “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” is perceived, ‘moral values’, to a different person, has a distinct meaning. Moral values, more often than not, are defined according to the cultural beliefs. Each culture has its own sets of rules and beliefs to determine what is crucial, trivial, right, wrong, good and bad. For instance, it is vital for Chinese children to practice filial piety as it is an essential value of Chinese traditional culture (POŠKAITĖ, 2014); hence, living with parents, regardless of the marital status, is the right thing to do for it is good. On the contrary, Western children are not entitled to such obligation.
Out of all the characters from Outsiders the one that appealed to me the most was two-bit because of how silly he is throughout the story. Two-bit was always the one to cheer people up when they were down and he could also get tough when he needed to be tough. Compared to two-bit my least favorite character is dally cause of how violent he is throughout the story he was always either tormenting or threatening someone and that just never appealed to me. In outsiders I have always felt like i related to Ponyboy the most cause of his love for books and sports.
Overall, there is a number of reasons why the WW1 lasted for so long and was not ‘over by Christmas’ as it was suggested by German military leaders. The most important factor is the advances in the military technology and introduction of new and improved armaments such as poison gas and machine guns. This lead to an increased popularity of the trench warfare, which decelerated the course of the war. Although, that is the most significant factor, there are other reasons, which explain the duration of the war, such as a diplomatic stalemate. The inability of military leaders of both Central and Allied powers to reach a consensus on territorial and political issues have led to a prolongation of the war.
