In the state of Arizona we are receiving a $75 million state budget cut to all public universities. Throughout this editorial called "Arizona Legislature passes deep cuts to Public Universities" the author effectively uses Ethos, Pathos, Logos, and Kairos. Our Public Universities have been spending way more money than the Government is giving them to support education. You are all probably thinking that someone would at least notice the overspending right? Well they did but they noticed it too late. To the readers it feels as if the State of Arizona does not really care of the success of students and they rather just charge all the students higher tuition when they could have prevented that from happening just by keeping track of all the Universities spending.

The author uses logos effectively by displaying a lot of data and statistics in the editorial. As stated in the editorial it is said that “Their meeting seemed to have little effect on Ward, who was one of the legislators who agreed Saturday to a budget that reduces state spending for higher education by about 14 percent, or $99 million. The budget scales back funding for the state’s flagship universities, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, and eliminates state money completely for several community colleges.” It is also stated in the editorial by Governor Doug Ducey Spokesman is that “We can’t spend money that doesn’t exist and that we don’t have,” Ducey spokesman Daniel Scarpinato told Huff Post. “When faced with a $1.5 billion budget deficit, [Ducey] happens to think that it’s a good idea for the state budget to be balanced.
