Eulogy For Father

Thursday night my mom, dad, and I were sitting by our fireplace. It was so quiet that I could hear the crackling of the hot embers, and the scent of the pine wood, burning under the bright flame filled my nose. I felt so happy that my father might be able to stay with us for a whole two weeks. We rarely get to see him because of him being a mover for a moving company. I looked at my father, who looked as though he was going to say something very desperately. Then he spoke.“Lilly,Therisa, I just wanted to let you two know that I’ll be going on another trip tomorrow, and I’ll be gone for about a week or so.”
I sat there, feeling like someone just punched me in the gut.
