More than 1000 years ago two empires on the opposite side of the known world they were two warrior groups: the Japanese Samurai and the European Knights. These warrior classes were similar and different by the armor they wore, training, and codes. Some similarities both warriors had in common for the training were they were promoted at the age of fourteen, began as a child, had loyalty to his master, studied religion, and trained with sticks, not real weapons. According to the document it states, “The rigorous training of samurai began in childhood.” Also in the text it says, “A prospective knight’s training began at age four or five.” Some differences in their training was that samurai read poetry, practiced Kendo and Zen Buddhism, lived …show more content…
he would usually become a knight at around the age of 21.” It also states, “At about 14 the trainees officially became samurai in a ceremony called genpuku.” Some other things the knights and samurai had in common and had some differences was their armor. Some similarities they both shared was that their helmets were very heavy, they had metal rings linked together, and had a bow. Some things the knights did that the samurai did not was the fact that they had gloves, shoes, and all their armor was made of chainmail, and their horses wore armor. Some things the samurai did the knights did not was that they had their right arm exposed with no armor, and had tiny plates of metal tied together with silk and leather. Evidence is shown in document C where it says, “Samurai did not wear armor on their right arm so they could easily draw their bow.” Some more similarities between the two warriors in the code area was the fact that they both got punished if they did not follow the rules, had honor, and made a vow to protect the land. Differences between the warrior groups was that samurai had association with friends and they were always ready to fight. Knights on the other hand were loyal to ladies, and gave mercy to those who asked for
