According to an article written by James Fieser about euthanasia, it means “good death.” In other words, it allows a terminally ill person to take their own life or get someone to help them take their own life to end their suffering. There are two types of euthanasia passive and active. Passive euthanasia is when the third party allows its patient to die by not giving treatment at all, or discontinuing a treatment that is no longer working. Active euthanasia is when the third party thinks of a plan to end the life of the patient and then performs that procedure. The conservatives, liberals, populists, and libertarians all have different opinions on if euthanasia should or should not be legalized in the United States. With each party having a significant amount of evidence to back themselves up it all boils down to what is the best for the individual and the country.
Conservatives consider euthanasia is inhumane. They agree that purposely taking the life of someone that is terminally ill and allowing a person to end their own life is unethical.
