Evaluation of Kevin Hart: I’m A Grown Little Man
The live performance I’m A Grown Little Man performed by Kevin Hart is a standup comedy performance that makes almost everyone laugh. I’m A Grown Little Man is Hart’s first filmed standup special. Stand-up comedy star Kevin Hart delivers his unique perspective on work, race, family and friends with this laugh-riot comedy show. Kevin live performance was released onto Netflix on February 3, 2009. According to Scott Glaysher, Kevin hart’s performance was simple, honest and particularly on-brand with the rest of Hart’s comedic work in movies and on TV (Glaysher, 2017). He makes all his jokes personal to him by describing humorous interactions with people in his life. His material often deals with family issues, which we all have, and which makes his comedy all the more relatable. He builds semi-slowly with some funny family introductions, and then moves onto describing a series of related personal stories about how his own children drive him a little more than crazy! Hart’s self-deprecating performance keeps the audience laughing and wanting more for over an hour. Paul stats that Kevin is hilarious, and you never forget that fact by having to wade through mean rants or speeches. He demonstrates almost perfect comedic timing for his punch lines and transitions from one joke or story to the next. He is adept at giving the audience just enough time to process the joke, laugh about it and/or even respond to him, and then move on to the next. He takes the time in between each joke to pace himself making sure he doesn’t rush the performance. Every once in a while, he pauses longer between jokes, but that only provokes more excitement as the audience waits in anticipation of what the comedian is going to do next. The audience does not seem to mind, because it usually comes back with even louder laughter on the next joke. Most impressive, he takes the funniest parts from earlier in his routine and craftily weaves them into his later stories to only come back full circle. In the end, this leaves the audience in howling in laughter. The only criticism is that Hart breaks from his routine from time to time in laughter at himself. But who can complain, watching Hart having such a good time and laughing at himself only causes the audience to laugh even
