As a department of the City of Everett government, Everett Transit impacts the lives of many people and organizations in the Northwest. Its major stakeholders can be narrowed down to its partners, customers, and employees. Of these groups, Everett Transit has had difficulties in satisfying its customers and employees. Paratransit customers are part of a vulnerable community, and though Everett Transit has strived to improve, customers have had many complaints about the current Paratransit system. Paratransit customers usually have to make multiple phone calls in order to schedule a ride, and must transfer from Everett Transit vehicles to Community Transit vehicles, which also increases the cost of their trip. Though Everett Transit implements fairly new technologies, it also seeks to maintain its current standing by adjusting to consumer demand. One plan that is projected to be finished in 2017 is the N Broadway Transit Improvement Project, which will improve bus stops along Broadway. Bus stops will be redistributed to ensure the safety of commuters and pedestrians, shelters and bike racks will be built at every stop, and there will soon be “bus bulbs” for every stop along Broadway that allow buses their own lane to pick up customers. This isn’t a brand new concept; It has been in use in other cities across the country. However, it will greatly improve safety and convenience for Everett Transit employees and customers, as well as the general public. Everett Transit has also purchased USD$4 million land for a new operations base to accommodate growth and demand. The new facility is set for completion by 2020, and along with it will come the operation of electric vehicles.
