Every Good Endeavor (review). "New York Times "bestselling author Timothy Keller” demonstrates how to find meaning of the work we do in life. What is the purpose of the work we are doing and does it conform to our Christian morals and values we hold true and dear? The book contains deep insight into the relevance of Biblical theology as it relates to our work. Work that is in service to others in service to God provides a personal and professional balance. The book is set up with three main points to consider. The author describes work, all work to be considered acceptable to God. The Biblical events surrounding the “fall” of mankind turns work into self-serving, selfish and ungodly. The final point of the book describes how we can redeem our work through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel cannot just be merely stated from the church pulpit but rather be looked upon through the world marketplace within our works. Being able to apply the teaching of the Gospel at work is paramount not to serve your own work ethics but rather the nature of the work itself being of God, for God and in service to the Kingdom of God. The author describes looking at all work through a bigger narrative such as a Christian worldview. The author reminds the reader that we all have a role to play in the restoring and redeeming of the earth that God created through our work. Vocation seems to be a mere formality as the book clearly states. I found some of the concepts of the book very long and the author at times lost me due to the lengthy ways to which he was making points. I found the book to be nuance enough to deal with the obvious complexity of what to author was trying to get across regarding work, sinfulness and the
