To what extent does someone's culture inform the way they view that world and others? I think that culture consistently informs the way people view the world and others. Let's hope that everyone is supportive of their culture. In the short story, “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker, Maggie is a great example of someone that support her culture and informs the way that she sees the world and others. A way that Maggie shows it is “And then the two of us sat there just enjoying , until it was time to go in the house and go to bed”(Walker, 83). Just recently my mom and I sat outside on the trampoline and watched the sunset together until it was time to start cooking supper. Another way Maggie informs the way she views people in the world is when her mother said “ I promised to give them quilts to Maggie, for when she marries John Thomas.”(Walker, 82). When my mom got married to my dad, my grandmother gave her something for her wedding. In the letter, “An Indian Father’s Plea” by Robert Lake, the dad is another great example of someone that informs the way that he sees the world and others. A way that Mr. Grizzlybear is a good example is when he say “He was bonded to his mother and to Mother Earth in a traditional native childbirth ceremony”(Lake, 95). A way that Dee doesn’t support her culture is when she says “No, I don't want those. They are stitched around the borders by machine”?(Walker, 81).
