The client had an L-hemisphere CVA on 8/11/10. After the stroke, the client was admitted for a 5 day acute care hospitalization and then into an inpatient rehab setting for six weeks for one hour every day. Through a speech evaluation, the client was diagnosed with a mild anomic aphasia and mild apraxia of speech. The client 's goals are to improve her mobility, communication, and return home. This session was a re-assessment six months after she was discharged from the inpatient rehab setting.
I like the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) model, because it is a powerful problem-solving approach to clinical decision-making, and it has user-friendly tools to guide. According to Zaccagnini & White, “it is designed specifically to meet the needs of the practicing nurse and uses a three-step process called PET: practice question, evidence, and translation” (2015). The goal of this model is to ensure that the latest research findings and best practices are quickly and appropriately incorporated into patient care. Great choice!
I am writing to you in support of Toye Adefioye. Toye Adefioye shadowed me at Daughters of Miriam, a skilled nursing facility in Clifton, New Jersey, from 08/2013 to 06/2014 for over 1500 hours. Toye observed me while I provide therapy to patients of various diagnoses; diagnoses such as general orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular, wound management, geriatrics, and so on. During this time, He was able to recognize and differentiate facts, and distinguish relevant from irrelevant information.

Dr. Clark (2010) once said, “The power of one practitioner’s expertise is converted into fuel for effective consumer advocacy in the future”. I am going to demonstrate this power, which is essential to fulfill American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) Centennial Vision.
Schools regularly have many external professionals who work with them, and these can include: educational psychologists; speech and language therapists; specialist teachers; Education Welfare Officers; School Improvement Partners; and physiotherapists/occupational therapists. An educational psychologist is assigned to a school and they work closely with SENCO providing pupil observations and assessments, helping to plan the provision for those with additional needs. A school will have links with speech and language therapists who can work with pupils to help with communication, language and speech problems.
Evidence based practice (EBP) is to demonstrate the best practice, which has been supported, with a clear rationale to back it up, while acknowledging the patient/clients best interest. I will choose observational retrospective cohort design for my study. My research question was to identify the association between socioeconomic, biopsychosocial, environmental and genetic factors, and the development of childhood asthma. To establish the effect of allergen (cockroaches, dust), poverty, poor air ventilation in a house, racial factors and air pollution on developing children asthma, a cohort have to have a exposure and the cohort need to followed over time. Cohort studies are used to study the incidence, causes, natural history of a disease and prognosis.1 Because they measure events in the chronological order, they can be used to distinguish between cause and effect.1 This type of study is the best method for determining the incidence and natural history of a disease or condition.1 One of the advantages of doing retrospective cohort study is that the data already collected for some other research study or purposes. The cohort is “followed up” retrospectively.1
Is the theory congruent with current nursing interventions or therapeutics? SCDNT is compatible with current nursing interventions, as can be seen by the number of instances these concepts have been used in nursing articles (Smith & Parker, 2015). Evidence- Based Practice Evidence based practice has influenced the way that induvials view sexually transmitted disease. It allows us to look at the information we have gathered previously, interpret it and then determine what needs to be changed and what seems to be working properly. When looking at EBP, we can tell that with the use of protection such as condoms and dental dams, the percentage of STDs being transmitted has lowered. When sexually active individuals did not use preventative measure, the percentage of STDs grew. EBP also has proven to show that the more partners one has, the risk of catching an STD becomes higher.
The Impacts of Evidence-Based Practice on Service Provision for Children Placed in Foster Care Children in the United States who have been abused or neglected by their parents or caregivers are commonly put into the foster care system, a system designed, at its best, to provide a safe alternative to the child’s home while legal decisions or made or during attempts at family reunification. In many cases, children in the foster care system have come from homes in which child abuse and neglect are prevalent and may have experienced significant adverse events, including substance abuse, childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, and physical violence. Unfortunately, the foster care system is an imperfect arrangement.

Effective communication is a key component of interprofessional practice to provide the best care for a patient treated by a multidisciplinary team. In my future profession as an occupational therapist there will be many important roles and responsibilities to consider across different specialities. Abstract: Randomized Controlled Trial study on advanced delivery mechanism simulator with Parallel Group Design was used with 38 randomly selected B.Sc nursing students of Bombay Hospital College of Nursing, Indore. The outcome of interest was pragmatic, and superiority trial was done. Out of 40 eligible participants, 38 participants were enrolled, and 2weeks were taken for pre test assessment. Allocation Concealment was done by the assessor, 38 participants were randomly divided into experimental and control group, also it was a single blind trial. The total study period was decided for 4 weeks.
