Arlinas stepdaughter Linda hated her and began a friendship with Christin Redfern, a wife of previously mentioned Patrick Redfern who had a romance with Arlena. Christine guessed that Patrick cheated on her with Arlena and shared Linda’s feelings toward her. Patrick Redfern made Arlena believe that he loves her more than his wife, and will support her everywhere. He was choosing to spend time with Arlena, not with his wife Christine. The Autor of the book was saying that Linda and Christine realized that they share the same feelings about Arlene and that they could discuss together how terrible she is, so lately they have become very good friends and spent almost all their free time in a place, despite the significant age difference. Anyone could kill Arlena. And it was really hard for Poirot and the police to investigate this case. Almost everyone hated Arlena in the hotel, even if they weren't saying this openly they had really strong negative feelings about her. It’s not hard to understand why Linda and Christine were wishing for her death. But not just they did. No one liked Arlina's personality. Someone could have come from someone else, Poirot and Police were thinking that someone came from outside the hotel to kill Arlina. They were thinking that a person like Arlina could be dating someone and after leaving because this person was not rich enough, she could not use him for anything anymore or she just found someone more suitable for her.
