In this paper, I conducted a Community Report regarding the Hispano Bar Association of Austin, I have always been interested in law and I think that conducting an interview with the president of the organization (Keyla Martinez Robertson) who I met up with to ask a quick Q&A about HBAA, which would help me in understanding how organization such as how they play an important role in the public life of the Mexican American community of Austin. Throughout this paper I will explain the history of the organization along with its mission, and will give a brief summary of my interview that I conducted. This paper will also be a great way of helping me acquire more in depth knowledge about how it is being a Hispanic lawyer in Austin. The Hispanic Bar Association of Austin officially started its history in 1995, when they changed the name from Capital Area Mexican-American Lawyer (CAMAL), because as Ms. Robertson says, they felt that fostering to only Mexican-Americans was not enough, they should make it for Hispanos as a whole. Robertson explained to me that it is very simple joining, the only requisite is that you have to be either a current lawyer or attending a law school. The membership fee depends on your seniority as a lawyer, if you recently became a lawyer it is cheaper that someone with more seniority, and joining is free for law students, which Ms. Robertson says that they encourage law students to join so they can have an early feel of what is ahead for them. HBAA also does other stuff to support students, ranging from scholarships to prospective law-students to giving financial assistance to the ones that are already in Law-School, and all the way to financial aid for graduating law students that will be taking bar
