Mike Head, my freshman World History teacher, was the human embodiment of kindness. Consistently clad in his argyle sweater vests, polo shirts, and bright blue New Balance running shoes, Coach Head would roam the halls of George Walton, his shiny bald head like a beacon in a sea of students. Every day, Coach Head would make a point to greet and converse with students and faculty, brightening their days. Coach Head challenged the conventional history classroom; often encouraging the class to stand on top of the desks to “see things from a different angle.” In the second quarter of the school year, he brought a coffee maker into the classroom.

The older siblings had to take care of the younger siblings.
Dear Dr. Cathleen Moore and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, I would like to be considered for your Graduate Teaching Assistant position that was posted on 10/31/2017. I believe that I would be a great fit for this position due to my experiences as a teacher and my academic background in psychology. One reason I would be a great fit for this position is because I once held what seems to be a nearly identical position in college. At Southern Illinois University (SIU), I served as an undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Psychology under the tutelage of Dr. Meera Komarraju. In this position, I led a discussion section for a similar number of students that were mostly at the freshmen and sophomore level.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.

This thought that coaches have no obligation to defend their athletes’ mental, and physical safety is absurd. Coaches are not simply caretakers of players, but of people, and therefore hold a moral and legal duty to create a safe environment of play, in order to prevent, and protect their athletes from serious head trauma, or other sports related injuries. Many believe that it is solely medical professionals’ jobs to keep athletes safe, while the majority of sports-world believes that this responsibility is shared among multiple different influences in
The more I don’t know, the more I know. The more I realize I don’t understand, the more I discover my desire to know more about psychology. My interest in educational psychology was triggered by my first experience in changing schools.
