The theme off the story is successes of doing right and tragedy of doing wrong. The theme is oblivious after reading through the book. Wes Moore wrote in the introduction “our destinies can be determined by a single stumble down the wrong path, or a tentative step down the right one.” I believe this is what he is trying to teach us about humanity through his work. The book show both sides of humanity the dark side and when its at it best.
Themes in a story help to describe what the book is about. It does this in the book Night by helping describe what World War 2 was like for the Jews. It also helps to see what the people in the camps went through. My two themes from night are imprisonment and survival. The first one I will talk about is imprisonment, then i’ll talk about survival.
Pick one theme and explain how Nijkamp portrayed this theme throughout the book and the message it portrayed. I think the them of bravery was present the most. Every character in the book did things that I don't think I could have done if I was in there shoes. The level of bravery Sylv and Autumn shoed in the auditorium with the shooter was amazing.
The themes are forgiveness, lost dreams, and how children can sometimes be more mature than the adults and parents. Forgiveness is a huge theme in the novel because Jeanette shows that no matter how much her parents put her through, she is able to overcome the hardships and chase her dreams without them. When she eventually accomplishes this, she’s still there to help and care for her parents. She is able to forgive them for everything in the end. The next theme is lost dreams.

To test whether a theme is worthy, the reader should ask whether it teaches a lesson, whether it's revealed through characters and whether it applies to the entire work. Several themes in the novel Night by Elie Wiesel and in the movie The Book Thief pass this test. In Night, Elie writes a memoir about how he and his family are sent to Aushwits, a concentration camp, for being Jewish during the holocaust.

One example of this is on page 39 when Eliezer doesn't stand up for his father after he is struck.

A holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel, who survived the concentration camp, wrote a book ‘Night’, as well as he introduced his acceptance speech to different people all around the world. He sought to restore the amicable and tolerate society where there is no place for such a word as ‘hate’.
Themes in various amounts of stories can range from love to death. While themes portray the central idea of the story; they figure out the theme of the story you can discover many secrets the author describes throughout the story. In Slaughterhouse Five, the main character as described as “stuck in time” which would make you wonder why. Certainly Vonnegut distributes a variety of literary elements to capture the central theme of the story using setting, conflict, and symbolism to show that time is the theme.

He shows us Literary Devices mainly as foreshadowing telling us what the guy Abner Snopes) knows is going to happen and guilt he has on his shoulders. These are the three main events that William Faulkner wants to catch our eyes with. Some of the themes the author uses are Loyalty and Betrayal talks about the family and how this theme is the most repetitive because even though their family is supposed to be loyal and show Loyalty they do not ,they show Betrayal because the little boy at the end of the story runs away so you have to know their is some Betrayal because of this event. Abortion There are very few subjects that provoke as much disagreement as the topic of abortion. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of society. The main concern of the argument is whether a woman has the right to terminate the life of a fetus or the embryo’s right to live. There have been numerous deaths and violet conflicts between the two parties—pro life and pro choice. Pro life believes abortion is a sin or immoral, while pro choice believes it is the woman’s right to her own body.

As Wiesel is explaining to the audience that he will never stay, “silent”(7) wherever there is an unjust act or time, he makes the simple word into a strong symbolic symbol. The audience can feel an emotional connection to a symbolic word if it has enough background to support itself. The audience is emotionally persuaded by the showing that the world stayed silent during the holocaust. The use of motif can persuade the audience into feeling an emotional connection making them want to speak for unjust acts. As Wiesel is trying to persuade the audience that “silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented”(7), he is showing the impact of the word silence, leading to the symbolic meaning of silence.
