A Mother’s Instinct
My daughter has always been a bit of a train wreck. George, my husband, and I (DailyMail Reporter) were supportive and accepting even when Casey came home to tell us she was pregnant at the age of nineteen (CNN Library). I overheard her telling her close friend on the phone that she was going to give the baby away for adoption (Fanning 86), but I refused to let her. This baby was going to be my second chance at raising my child. All I wanted was a grandbaby to spoil and help to make better decisions than Casey had.
We never learned the identity of the father (CNN staff), but George and I always speculated she didn’t know either. Casey gave birth to a healthy baby girl August 9, 2005 and named her Caylee Marie Anthony (CNN …show more content…

Any direction I turned, all we heard was Casey Anthony. Her name had become a dirty word. “Murderer” and “psychopath” were always close to follow her name in a conversation or on the news. The lawyers told us they had to go four counties over to find an unbiased jury due to the mass publicity (Crime Museum) and even then everyone had heard of Casey and the undeniable evidence that she did it.
I cried while I picked out a professional outfit for Casey to wear to her trial. Everything I saw reminded me of Caylee. A peach collared blouse and black dress pants were some of the few non provocative clothing Casey owned. Jose Baez wanted her to look like a humble mother that had just lost a
