“The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.” - Albert Schweitzer. Compassion is when you help someone through their misfortunes and sufferings. Compassion is letting someone else feel understood when they are troubled or distressed . A community hero must have compassion to make an impact on society.
Kailash Satyarthi is an example of a real community hero. He showed compassion when he rescued children from child labor in 2008 in India. He founded Bachpan Bachao Andolan and has protected the rights of at least 83,000 children from 144 different countries. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for the work that he has done. This shows that he has compassion and really cares about child labor and his community. …show more content…

“He was kind of limping like something was wrong with one of his legs. And I have to admit, he stunk. Bad. He was an ugly dog, but already, I loved him with all my heart.” Even though Winn-Dixie was ugly and smelled horrible, Opal still took him home and loved him.
