It was a chilly Friday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School; students eager to learn. Around 9:30 am, teachers heard gun fire in the hallway. Immediately, the teachers scattered to get their children to safety. The teachers, pushing them into the bathroom, shoving them in closets, or even hiding them in cabinets. Still, if someone was to enter the room, they would do their best for them not to be able to get to the children. This tragic event that led to Obama speaking to this country was obviously the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut, which took place December 14, 2012. The purpose of this speech is to speak for those who died, and for the parents or friends that are still here. Sandy Hook was a very heart breaking tragedy that many innocent families and friends had to go through that December morning and the mourning in the weeks to follow.
