Effective writing is done in several different ways, one of which is through the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle comprises of ethos, logos, and pathos. Ethos appeals to moral character, credibility, and tone. Logos is facts, statistics, and reason. While pathos is about emotion, impact, and personal connection. The article, “Street Harassment: Current and Promising Avenues for Researchers and Activists”, expresses the great frustration that women go through while trying to bring awareness to the topic. By using specific word choices and sharing personal experiences, statistics, and studies, Dr. Laura S. Logan successfully uses ethos, logos, and pathos to reveal women's victimization when facing street harassment.

If they don’t [respond], some people get violent… [and scream] ‘Fuck you’ and throw a bottle at ‘em” (qtd Logan 204). This was told from a male perspective, explaining the harassment of women and why men do it. They desire to have a reaction and will get angry or aggressive if they don’t get what they want. As the other side of the conversation speaks, we learn that men perceive women to be lesbians if they seem uninterested or reject a man. Logan effectively appeals to ethos by setting a tone for how men believe women should be treated. She builds credibility through her knowledge and research from the harassers themselves. Additionally, she proves that women are treated much less than a person and instead like objects as a man's behavior in harassment creates a character that women fear. Logan also uses logos in her article to share studies that have been made about women who have been dealing with this issue for well over a century. She shares that “[t]he majority of studies find that an overwhelming percentage of women experience street harassment, many well before legal adulthood” (201). Women have been sexually harassed by men for a long time and very early on in their lives as well. A workplace is not supposed to be an environment one fears going to, but women, especially mothers, must endure it to bring in income for their families. As stated previously, men as harassers feel entitled to have control in public spaces whether they are professional spaces or not. Places in education, government, and business cannot be completely avoided by all women and young girls. Whether it is day or night, walking home or taking transportation heavily impacts both women and young girls. Some may feel intimidated, threatened, or have a sense of harm. Mothers worry when they must send their children to go to school walking or on a bus, which is public for all. All while they have to be away for work.
