Many novels create societies in which a good majority of the freedoms we enjoy are taken away. In these societies the general population typically likes the way they live, while a small group of them do not. These two groups of people both have different viewpoints on what a free society is, one group preferring a society that is more equal overall and the other preferring to have more personal freedoms Both of these versions of a society are considered to be “free”.
